March Madness bracket 2016: Villanova defeats Iowa, moves to Sweet 16

A look at the 2016 March Madness bracket after Villanova trounced Iowa to move to the Sweet 16

The Villanova Wildcats have had their share of demons in the early rounds of March Madness in recent years. Even entering 2016 March Madness with an experienced, talented roster, there were still plenty of doubters regarding Villanova’s chances in the tournament. They made those doubters look quite silly in the Second Round against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday.

Villanova came out of the gate and just started landing haymakers on the Hawkeyes seemingly all day long. Everyone from the Wildcats was involved as Josh Hart, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Kris Jenkins were all phenomenal throughout the first half and, though they still played the second half, Villanova really just landed the knockout punches in the first half as they went into halftime up 25 points.

After a strong showing in the First Round and then an even stronger showing as the games get tougher in the Second Round, Villanova might be a team to watch out for as they seem like they might be on track to put their demons behind them.

With Villanova now advancing to the Sweet 16, let’s take a look at the updated 2016 March Madness bracket to see where things stand with the Sweet 16 now that the Wildcats have joined the field.
