In 2016, the NFL is more of a quarterback-driven league than it has ever been and here are five teams that could use an upgrade at that position.

While the 2015 Denver Broncos were an anomaly for being able to win the Super Bowl with suspect to frankly quarterback play, the NFL is not trending in that direction in 2016, as it is still immensely important to have a reliable pocket passer to win at the highest level in the National Football League.

Outside of Denver, most teams in the 2015 NFL Playoffs all had Pro Bowl caliber playmakers under center at the quarterback position: Tom Brady with the New England Patriots, Ben Roethlisberger with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cam Newton with the Carolina Panthers, and Russell Wilson with the Seattle Seahawks to name a few.

With the league becoming increasingly passing-centric by the season, it is more important than ever to have a capable leader under center to contend in the modern age of the NFL. Surely, teams can claw their way to victory by pounding the rock and playing lights-out defense, but at the end of the day, it’s easier to hoist a Lombardi Trophy when the quarterback play is supreme.

Not every team is lucky enough to have an elite franchise quarterback. Some bounce from so-so quarterback to so-so quarterback in the hopes of having one guy stick with the club for a solid five-year window.

While some teams have seemed to have found their new franchise passer under center in recent years like Jameis Winston with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Marcus Mariota with the Tennessee Titans, Blake Bortles with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Teddy Bridgewater with the Minnesota Vikings, and Derek Carr with the Oakland Raiders, here are five teams in the NFL that need to upgrade the quarterback position more than just about anybody else heading into 2016.
