Remember when I said that the Oregon Ducks blew a 31-point lead in the Alamo Bowl? Well, it was partially because the TCU Horned Frogs played out of their minds in the second half of that game, not just because Oregon laid down and played conservatively. Even without senior quarterback Trevone Boykin, this team got the job done for its 11th win of the year.

Senior quarterback Bram Kohlhausen led the team to triple overtime, and a victory, but that means there is just one returning quarterback who played last season — Foster Sawyer. He didn’t play well, completing just 40 percent of his passes and throwing three interceptions to his two touchdowns.

Three-star 2016 quarterback commit Brennen Wooten could challenge Sawyer this season, but the No. 11 Horned Frogs will head into spring ball with no clear No. 1 gunslinger.

Kolby Listenbee is graduating and Josh Doctson has decided to forgo his senior season and head to the NFL after compiling 1,327 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015. Freshman KaVontae Turpin looks to be the next big receiving threat and he finished the season second on the team with 649 yards and eight touchdowns.

The 59th-ranked scoring defense is losing just four starters and could be much-improved in 2016.

On top of all that, the Horned Frogs have the 16th-best recruiting class in the country, according to Scout — that includes six junior college transfers.
