Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. South Carolina Gamecocks
While all attention on the weekends is paid to the NCAA Tournament in March, the week days to begin the week are for the NIT and there are some good basketball teams playing in the tournament that may be just as good as some of the teams that made the tournament. The NIT is generally reserved for the teams that are right on the outside looking in and they always have competitive battles featuring some of college’s best players.
On Monday night, two of the better teams in the nation that didn’t have the fortune of getting into March Madness will face off, when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and South Carolina Gamecocks will meet in the NIT Second Round in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Gamecocks come into the game led by talented senior forward Michael Carrera, who is averaging 14.4 points and 7.8 rebounds a game on the season. The Gamecocks are 25-8 to date and are putting on a great season despite not making the tournament.
