NBA Draft 2016: Florida State’s Malik Beasley declares

Florida State freshman guard Malik Beasley announced on Monday that he will enter the 2016 NBA Draft

Though the Florida State Seminoles were only able to make it to the NIT Championship in 2016 rather than getting into the NCAA Tournament, they still had moments and still had players that shined throughout the year. One such player was freshman guard Malik Beasley, a young man who had a great deal of promise as he entered the college ranks and flashed his potential on more than one occasion.

However, there won’t be any more of those moments for Beasley in Tallahassee going forward. On Monday night, Beasley released a statement saying that he would be foregoing the rest of his NCAA eligibility and entering the 2016 NBA Draft:

In what will be his lone season with the Seminoles, the 6-5 guard had a nice year as he averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while only playing 29.8 minutes per game. Moreover, that Beasley shot 47.1 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from long range for Florida State this season certainly does a lot for his draft stack.

Malik Beasley will likely be selected in the late first or early second round judging by how he’s being valued by scouts throughout the NBA right now. However, with how talented he clearly is at just 19 years old and with the upside that entails, a strong showing at the combine could vault him even higher.
