Washington Huskies vs. San Diego State Aztecs
Every year, there is that one talented NCAA Tournament bubble team that doesn’t get in. This year, that team was the San Diego State Aztecs, who had an incredible season but fell just short in their conference tournament and ultimately did not get a bid to compete in March Madness.
The good news for the Aztecs is that they were given a No. 2 seed in the NIT and will have a great chance of making some noise as they progress forward. On Monday night, the Aztecs will have quite the battle on their hands in the NIT Second Round, as they play host to the No. 3 Washington Huskies, who were a win or two shy of making the NCAA Tournament out of the Pac-12.
It can be argued that the numbers game caught up to the Huskies this season, as the Pac-12 getting a record number of teams in the NCAA Tournament may have cost the Huskies their chance to get in. The Huskies will look to senior guard Andrew Andrews, who is averaging 21.1 points a game to provide a scoring spark for them on the road against Trey Kell and the Aztecs.
