After a rough season with the Washington Redskins, two-time Pro Bowl running back Alfred Morris signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys hosted running back Alfred Morris for a visit and workout. It now appears that the meeting must have went well, as the Cowboys and Morris agreed to a two-year contract. The terms of the contract, as reported by Ian Rapoport, are a two-year deal worth a base salary of 3.5 million, but can rise to 5.5 million if incentivized goals are met.

Morris is a former sixth-round pick from the 2012 draft. Since day one with the Washington Redskins, Morris was a playmaker out of the backfield. In 2012, Morris was an important contributor in the offense that produced the Offensive Rookie of the Year in Robert Griffin III.

During Morris’ rookie season, he had the third most carries in the NFL (335) and finished second in rushing yards (1,613). However, his first season was undoubtedly his best season in the NFL thus far, as his statistics have digressed every season since.

Ultimately, the signing of Alfred Morris should be a solid one for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys possessed a very weak running game last season, and even if Morris does not play as well as he did his rookie year, his arrival in Dallas should help make the life of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo easier.
