Freddy Adu curls a nice free kick for Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Freddy Adu, on his MLS debut, was supposed to be the next big thing for United States soccer. At 16, this kid was headed for stardom in the soccer world. After having a rough go at it, he essentially went missing. He left the MLS to go overseas and play, he didn’t make the USMNT and his soccer career had kind of gone down the drain.
But Freddy Adu proves in this goal that there is still some life. He wasn’t just some kid that didn’t have any talent. He puts this strike right in the top corner for the Rowdies.

Even if the keeper were paying attention the whole time it would have been tough for him to save. But it doesn’t matter, Adu puts this top shelf and the keeper has no chance either way. Despite this team being in a lower division of the MLS, the NASL, this is still a classy goal from a player that could try to make a comeback.
He clearly has the ability to play for the national team and an MLS team, but he has to prove he can play like this on a consistent basis.
