Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says there isn’t enough data yet to link CTE to football.
The biggest issue to become prevalent in football is head safety and the link to CTE. After plenty of discoveries of CTE in the brain after death in many deceased football players, safety issues have dominated the discussion of how football can adapt and make the sport much safer for the athletes of tomorrow and in the present.
Last week, the NFL caught plenty off guard, when a league official linked the game to the CTE in what was an unprecedented move. While there have been plenty of developments supporting the link between head trauma and the game, there are still those that are holding out on whether or not the game can be linked to CTE.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is one of those that is holding out. According to Daniel Kaplan, Jones doesn’t believe that there is enough data yet to link the two together.

Considering the amount of concussions and the amount of deceased players that have been diagnosed with CTE, the fact that the league and its owners have been slow to admit the link is a little surprising. Whether it’s to protect business interests or they simply don’t believe in the matter is another thing.
Regardless, the league still has a major issue on its hand in terms of head safety and keeping players safe on the field and when they’re done playing. It’s an issue that’s got a long way to go and comments like that of Jones only further proves how much farther this discussion has to go as well.
