NCAA Women’s bracket 2016: Sweet 16 set
A look at the updated 2016 NCAA Women’s bracket now that the Sweet 16 is set
The 2016 NCAA Women’s Tournament and women’s March Madness has been furiously going on alongside the men’s tourney for the past weekend and into Monday throughout the day. After several upsets and after the top seeds continued to cruise through the First and Second Rounds, the Sweet 16 is now set for the 2016 NCAA Women’s Tournament.
On Monday, the story—as always when they were on the floor—was the continued supremacy of the UConn Huskies as they cruised to another 45-plus-point victory in the Second Round to move onto the Sweet 16. Though it was hardly in as dominant of a fashion, the other No. 1 seed that was in action on Monday in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish advanced comfortably to the Sweet 16 with a win.
Beyond the top seeds, all four of which advanced, the big stories were the upsets that happened in the Second Round. The No. 6 seed DePaul Blue Demons advanced, as did two No. 7 seeds in the Tennessee Volunteers and the Washington Huskies. Given the pedigree of programs like Tennessee, you have to imagine that they could be gearing up for a deep run in the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Now that the Sweet 16 in the Women’s Tournament has been set, let’s take a look at the updated bracket to see where things stand and what matchups on the horizon.
The matchup between Ohio State and Tennessee is going to be must-watch TV in the Sweet 16, as will matchups between Notre Dame and Stanford and of course UConn and Mississippi State. Though the top seeds have moved forward, things always start to get a bit crazier in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
