Russell Westbrook can do no wrong.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook has been on fire this season and has been playing like an MVP candidate. He has been so hot lately that it feels like even when he does something wrong, things wind up working in his favor. This was highlighted during their Tuesday matchup against the Houston Rockets.
Despite firing an errant shot that didn’t even come close to going in, it bounces straight off the glass to a waiting Serge Ibaka.
The ball deflects off of Rockets guard Patrick Beverley. What Westbrook was trying to do was either get a shot off or do an alley-oop. Despite the deflection, the ball bounces off the backboard in just the right way to go straight to Ibaka who had an easy dunk for two points. The Rockets have to be shaking their heads at this point wondering what they have to do to stop Westbrook. If he’s having things like that go right for him, there’s not much you can do. Nice hustle on defense Dwight Howard, by the way.
Russell Westbrook is averaging 23.8 points per game, a career high 10.4 assists per game, and a career best 7.7 rebounds per game. He is second in the NBA in double doubles with 47, trailing only Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons.
