2. San Antonio Spurs

Draft Picks: None

Coach Gregg Popovich already have two point guards (Tony Parker and Patty Mills) under team control for next season. However, never be surprised when San Antonio signs and develops players that others would quickly pass on. In this case, that might be VanVleet. Since this article is designed to decide the best destinations for VanVleet, I have to take into account where he can become the best player possible. With this said, it’s not hard to answer this question with the class of the NBA.

A couple examples of players that have easily overachieved what many analysts projected are Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard. Going back to the Pelican’s slide, VanVleet brings the toughness that many Spurs teams have consistently exhibited. Additionally, he knows how to win and handle himself when the going gets tough. He isn’t going to wilt under pressure.

With Mills locked in as the backup point guard for the 2016-17 season, VanVleet likely wouldn’t play many minutes his first season, but would gain valuable knowledge. The most beneficial of this would come from the starter Tony Parker. Throughout his career, Parker has never been a marksman from deep, but could always score around the basket. These are the kind of tips that could quickly elevate VanVleet’s game.
