NFL Rumors: Rams would consider signing RGIII

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said the team would consider signing free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III, just four years after trading the pick used on him.

As the clock ticked on the 2012 NFL Draft, the team that was then called the St. Louis Rams had the second pick in the first round. They would not keep that pick, trading it to the Washington Redskins in exchange for six picks over the next three drafts.

Now, RGIII is on the free agent market after being let go by the Redskins following an entire 2015 season spent on the bench while Kirk Cousins led them to an NFC East championship. As it turns out, the now Los Angeles Rams would be interested in bringing in the quarterback that they could have picked years ago:

"“I think it’s something we have to consider. We’ve looked at the tape,” head coach Jeff Fisher said. “I was very impressed with him prior to the draft.”"

Currently, the Rams have Case Keenum and Nick Foles in their locker room (with Keenum being the declared starter even before the first OTA practice of the 2016 offseason), so they aren’t in a rush to go out and sign another quarterback.

The Rams famously trolled the Redskins during their 2014 game in Washington, sending the six players who were drafted with the picks in that trade (cornerback Janoris Jenkins, defensive tackle Michael Brockers, running back Zac Stacy, linebacker Alec Ogletree, wide receiver Stedman Bailey and offensive lineman Greg Robinson) out for the coin toss that day:

RGIII, who led Washington to a divisional title his rookie season but has been plagued by injuries since, is being looked at by several other teams across the league in search of a quarterback, including the Cleveland Browns.
