After being accused of sexually harassing two women, Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers have called the situation a “miscommunication”.

On Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers guards Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson allegedly sexually harassed two women as they were driving through Hollywood.

Co-founder of the organization I AM THAT GIRL and sexual and domestic assault activist, Alexis Jones, accused them of harassing her and her mother, using sexual gestures and vulgar language (per Baxter Holmes of ESPN). After Jones took to Twitter to target the Lakers for what happened, the case quickly received attention.

Even though the details of what exactly occurred were unclear, it goes without saying that sexual harassment of any kind or any nature is disgusting behavior. The Lakers obviously didn’t wait long to respond, releasing a statement that after speaking to Jones, Young and Clarkson, there have been different accounts of what happened. Also, they have been unable to organize a meeting between the two players and Jones due to the latter’s schedule (via Serena Winters of Lakers Nation).

Beyond the Lakers’ statement, Young and Clarkson have also made some comments on the matter, saying that the sexual harassment they’ve been accused of is merely “a miscommunication”. Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News also added that they don’t want to get into a public disagreement, surely working with the Lakers and Jones to resolve the problem.

As for possible discipline from the Lakers, it doesn’t look too likely that anything will happen, at least for the time being while the events of Sunday night are still uncertain. Jordan Clarkson was in action on Tuesday in the Lakers’ 107-100 win against the Memphis Grizzlies, while Nick Young was still out after missing the four previous games anyway.

Over the next few days, more may come to light to reveal exactly what occurred between the two guards and Alexis Jones.
