5 reasons signing RGIII is great for the Cleveland Browns

Robert Griffin III has agreed to a two-year deal to be the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Here are five reasons RGIII to the Browns is a good thing.
Former 2011 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from Baylor University and the No. 2 overall draft pick by the Washington Redskins in 2012 Robert Griffin III, has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the AFC North’s Cleveland Browns to be their quarterback in 2016 and 2017.
Griffin had about as electrifying of a two-year window as a QB can have from 2011 at Baylor to his rookie season in 2012 with the Redskins. He was the poster child of the new and exciting dual-threat quarterback wave in his rookie year with Washington, leading the Redskins to the 2012 NFC Playoffs.
However, his four-tenure in DC didn’t go anywhere close to as planned. Griffin tore up his knee in the 2012 NFC Wild Card Game versus the Seattle Seahawks and ultimately lost his effectiveness as a dual-threat playmaker by not being able to make plays with his legs.
A public divide between Griffin, his teammates and two coaching staffs cost former head Mike Shanahan his job and ultimately Griffin’s as the franchise quarterback, especially once second-year head coach Jay Gruden opted to go with 2012 third-round pick Kirk Cousins as the starter last year. Cousins flourished in 2015, leading the Redskins to the NFC Playoffs. Griffin rode pine and was ultimately released by the team at the end of the 2015 NFL season.
Now that Griffin will have his opportunity to lead the most dysfunctional organization in football for the next two years, here are five reasons that the decision to sign RGIII was a wise one for the Browns organization.
