Entering his third season with the Texas Longhorns, head coach Charlie Strong is sounding confident about what his team will do to opponents in the future.

It’s safe to say that there are plenty of Texas Longhorns football fans who are worried about what the future will hold for their favorite team. After a 5-7 record in 2015, Texas has had back-to-back losing seasons for the first time in nearly three decades (1988-89), so you would think the focus would be on just getting back to a winning record.

In the case of head coach Charlie Strong, small promises like that aren’t in his game plan. As he prepares for his third season in Austin, Strong told a group of faculty members recently that the Texas Longhorns are about to be the new bullies in college football:

"“You think about what we’re doing right now, what’s going to happen when we really get it turned?“They (future opponents) might as well move out of the way, because we are going to steamroll everyone,” he added. “That’s going to happen.”"

Now, you wouldn’t expect any coach to say anything less about their program, but for the leader of the Texas Longhorns to say that after a 2015 season that included four losses by 18 points or more (including losses by 35 and 43 points), it can’t help but make some people laugh at a guarantee being made with so much work to do (even with the amount of talent Texas has on their roster).

The coach of one team Strong is threatening to “steamroll” couldn’t believe his ears:

"“He said that? It’s not April Fool’s yet, is it? No? He just cut it loose?” Texas Tech’s Kliff Kingsbury said according to CoachingSearch.com. “I did not see that, but I would not make those statements.”"

The Texas Longhorns welcome Notre Dame to town to open the 2016 season (to go along with the conference games featuring Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State), so we’re not sure how much steamrolling will be taking place during the 2016 season.
