Garry Shandling joins a long list of celebrities who have passed away this year

There have been many deaths of well-known people in the early parts of 2016. The world has already lost Alan Rickman, Harper Lee, Nancy Reagan, Ken Howard and David Bowie, among others. It appears the Grim Reaper doesn’t go on breaks, as another figure has left us. According to TMZ, Garry Shandling died Thursday at the age of 66.

Reports are coming in that Shandling had a heart attack. The timing is odd, considering he seemed to be in perfect health. He was hanging around Kathy Griffin and Bob Odenkirk a few days ago and the two sent out a few tweets to discuss the recent news.

It is very unfortunate for a person who has entertained millions for years. Those that are young best knew Shandling from his roles in the Marvel universe as Hydra-supporter Senator Stern, The Dictator or that guy who put his thumbs up in Zoolander. Shandling was more than that and the older generation can attest to that. He was also a comedic genius.

Shandling substituted for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show a few times before starting his own critically acclaimed show. The Larry Sanders Show, which was basically a parody of a talk show. The behind-the-scenes look of a talk show earned 56 Emmy nominations over 89 episodes.

Another loss has affected the comedy world.
