WWE Rumors: John Cena out until July?

John Cena might be away from the WWE for a lot longer than most people expect

The injury bug has hit WWE hard in the past year or so, but really the most glaring absence on the roster is that of the face of the company, John Cena. The man who’s been on the top of the card for the better part of the last decade suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery, and he’s been out of action for months now.

While Cena won’t be competing in a match at WrestleMania 32 on April 3, the belief has been that he will be returning to action not long after the biggest show of the year. However, that might not exactly be the case.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), the word now is that Cena might not be making it back into action until some time around July of this year, which is actually pretty stunning. With Cena’s history of recovering from injuries at a superhuman pace, you really did expect that he would be back in the ring sooner rather than later.

Of course, you also have to wonder whether or not someone within WWE planted this rumor so as to draw people off the scent of the actual return date of Mr. Hustle, Loyalty and Respect. They’ve pulled that trick before, and if the plans are big enough for Cena when he does return, you could see where they would want to create a diversion.

Only time will really tell when it comes to that, but for now, it looks like we won’t be seeing Cena back in the ring for a while.
