Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith wants a spot on the imaginary “Super Team” that teammate LeBron James talked about earlier this week.
As it seems more and more like the honeymoon is over for LeBron James and his second marriage with the Cleveland Cavaliers, James is already thinking about his future and has an epic team in his dreams that he wouldn’t mind putting together in the future.
Earlier this week, LeBron said he would be willing to take a pay cut if there could somehow be a way to get himself on the same team with fellow friends and NBA superstars Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. There are very few teams that could even sniff the idea of that kind of payroll (since all four will still command a nice contract), so this seems like quite the pipe dream.
If it were to happen, they would need a fifth player on the court. You can count one of LeBron’s current teammates on the Cavaliers, J.R. Smith, as someone who would gladly volunteer for that spot, as he told the New York Daily News before Thursday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets:
"“That would be dope. That’d be sick…I’d like to see it. I just hope they save me a spot and I’m on the team.”"
Smith has the experience of having played with both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, who was his teammate during Smith’s tenures with both the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks. Earlier this week, Smith announced he would switching agents and signing with longtime LeBron friend Rich Paul, meaning he might be following King James if there is another divorce from the Cavs.
