John-Michael Liles will miss the Bruins four-game road trip with a lower-body injury.

The slumping Boston Bruins, losers of five straight games, are embarking on an important four-game road trip that could determine if they make the playoffs or not. They will be without defenseman John-Michael Liles for at least the start of the road trip after the defenseman suffered a lower-body injury against the Florida Panthers.

Losing John-Michael Liles, a trade deadline pickup by the Bruins, would be devastating considering that Boston has had blue line problems even with Liles in the lineup. He has two assists in 12 games with the Bruins and six goals and 11 assists for 17 points overall this season. Liles suffered the lower-body injury during a collision towards the end of the second period in their game against the Panthers.

Expect the Bruins to go with young defenseman Zach Trotman or defenseman Joe Morrow as they try to replace the 19 minutes per night that Liles has been giving the Bruins since being traded. Trotman has seven points in 37 games this season for the Bruins while Morrow has seven points in 29 games.

Boston must have a strong road trip as they are battling with the Detroit Red Wings for third place in the Atlantic Division.
