LeBron James has to do more of everything to help his team, according to him.
Last night’s loss for the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Brooklyn Nets, who have won just 20 games all season long, couldn’t have felt good for the team.
It’s been a whirlwind of distractions this week from LeBron James as he unfollowed the Cavs on twitter (seriously, who cares?) then decided to join Snapchat (zzz …) then came out and said he wants to play with Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul at some point during his career (kind of like how all the kids came together to form Captain Planet).
The Cavs have the second highest payroll in NBA history and need to figure out a way to get things clicking; otherwise, it could be deemed another playoff failure if they lose in the Finals again, let alone miss them altogether. So what does LeBron need to do?
Well, James met with head coach Tyronn Lue after the Cavs were blown out by the Miami Heat last week and talked about things. He also met with GM David Griffin. Here’s what he said came out of those discussions:
"Just getting more locked down toward the postseason, as I told you guys, I am zeroing in on what needs to be done. Body feels great. I am just trying to put this team on my back and try to help us get to a point where we can just play at a high level. And they always take my lead and my energy, and hopefully they follow me."
A lot of the distractions that have been swirling around the Cavs lately are because of things Lebron has done or said. If I’m a Cavs fan, I don’t want him talking about wanting to play with Carmelo and CP3. I want him focused on finishing the season strong.
The Cavs will look to rebound against the New York Knicks Saturday night.
