March Madness 2016, Duke vs Oregon: Full highlights
Oregon out-hustled and outplayed Duke to move on in March Madness, advancing to the Elite Eight
The Duke Blue Devils clearly had the advantage in terms of talent on Thursday as they entered the Honda Center for their matchup against the No. 1 seeded Oregon Ducks. However, the Ducks’ sum of their parts has been far better than that of Duke’s for most of the season. With the clash of these two narratives, the question was which would ultimately reign supreme and earn a team a ticket to the Elite Eight.
As it turned out the Ducks came out in the first half and just started pressing the Blue Devils in every manner. Their defense and rebounding were stifling and essentially every Duke player not named Brandon Ingram struggled to get into a rhythm. That ultimately allowed the Ducks to jump out to a small lead and go into halftime up by five points.
In the second half, though, the Blue Devils tried to regroup and looked like they might make a run initially. However, Oregon turned it back up a notch and their free-flowing, fast-paced attack on both ends of the floor proved to be way too much for Duke to handle with players like Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard struggling. Ultimately it was the shooting, the hustle, and the athleticism of the likes of Dillon Brooks and Jordan Bell that pushed the Ducks through to the Elite Eight.
