It took a while, but the Golden State Warriors finally gave David Lee his NBA Championship ring from last season.

The 2014-15 NBA season was all about the Golden State Warriors. They shocked everyone by finishing atop the Western Conference standings under first-year head coach Steve Kerr and spectacular play by MVP winner Stephen Curry led them throughout the year.

Golden State would then go on to win the NBA Finals with a victory in five games over the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

One member of that Warriors team was David Lee. The veteran forward had been with the organization for a few years but saw his role drastically decrease during the season. That and a hefty expiring contract led to him being traded to the Boston Celtics last offseason. He was eventually waived and signed by the Dallas Mavericks for the rest of the 2015-16 season.

Somehow, during this time, Lee never received his NBA Championship ring. He seemingly didn’t get the chance to have it presented yet since the teams he was on didn’t go to the Oracle Arena.

So, at Friday night’s game between the Warriors and Mavericks, Curry presented Lee with his long-awaited ring. He got a nice ovation from the crowd as well.

Unfortunately for Lee, he isn’t part of this historic Warriors team that has a chance of breaking the all-time regular season wins record. They will also be the favorite to win the NBA Finals against whoever comes out of the Eastern Conference.
