Buddy Hield put Tyler Dorsey on skates in a major way (Video)

Buddy Hield’s stepback left Oregon guard Tyler Dorsey tripping over himself on defense

Buddy Hield jumped all over the Oregon Ducks in the first half of their Elite Eight March Madness matchup on Saturday as the senior guard put up a star-like performance in the first half. In just the first 20 minutes of play, the superstar for the Oklahoma Sooners put up 17 points while hitting five of his six attempts from long range. As it turns out, the first half was only the first chapter of Hield’s story in the Elite Eight, something Oregon guard Tyler Dorsey can attest to.

With Oklahoma still holding on to a huge lead over the Ducks, Buddy Hield was controlling the ball at the top of the arc. He then took a couple of hard dribbles to right inside the free throw line before pulling up for a stepback jumper. When he hit the stepback, Dorsey—who was attempting to contain him at the time—was sent flying back looking like he was on skates and literally almost turned his ankles from being shook so hard:

Breaking someone’s ankles is usually just hyperbolic expression on the basketball court, but apparently Buddy Hield makes it quite literal whenever he’s locked in like he was on Saturday night against Oregon.

Most anyone who has loosely kept up with college hoops was aware of Hield before the Elite Eight. But if even those people weren’t aware of just how great the Sooners senior is, it’s safe to say he showed them against Oregon.
