Coach K apologizes for scolding Dillon Brooks, lying about saying he didn’t

Coach K confirmed that he lied when he said he didn’t scold Dillon Brooks after Duke’s Sweet Sixteen loss.

After Duke lost in the Sweet Sixteen to No. 1 seeded Oregon, all we could talk about was coach Mike Krzyzewski and how he scolded Ducks star Dillon Brooks.

The controversy arose when Brooks took a shot near the end of the game while Oregon had already handedly won the game. In the postgame handshake line, Coach K supposedly told Brooks that he was too good of a player to be showboating and taking shots like that at the end of games.

That wasn’t the end of the controversy though — merely the beginning. Krzyzewski was asked about the incident after the game and bold-faced said that he didn’t say anything of the sort to Brooks. This was disrupted, innocently, by Brooks and defended by Oregon coach Dana Altman, who said he told Brooks to take the shot.

After 12-hours or so of controversy, which included CBS releasing a smoking gun video of Coach K almost clearly saying what he said he didn’t say, we have answers.

Cue the faux-outrage about this and how Krzyzewski is violating the sanctity of some basketball rule someone said one time years ago.

It’s extremely odd that Coach K would straight up lie about not saying what we all heard him say, but it happened. Let’s all move on and focus on the teams that didn’t get bounced out of the tournament — like Oregon.
