March Madness 2016, Oklahoma vs Oregon: Full highlights

Saturday’s Oklahoma vs Oregon game was the best from the West Region all tournament long.

This was the game in the West Region that everyone was looking forward to. It wasn’t the easiest road for either team to make it here, but both the Oregon Ducks and Oklahoma Sooners survived and advanced and therefore earned the right to play for a Final Four spot next weekend.

Oklahoma had a strong start to the season, even making it to the top spot nationally before struggling to stay consistent at the end of the year. However, the Sooners already made it further in the NCAA Tournament this season than they did last year, getting to the Elite Eight.

No one really saw the Oregon Ducks earning a No. 1 seed at the start of the season, but they won the Pac-12 regular season and tournament and have been a serious national title threat all year long.

Oklahoma got off to a strong start while the Ducks’ normally impressive offense remained stagnant. To no one’s surprise, Buddy Hield was on fire, but his teammates were also taking advantage of the double-teams he was drawing form Oregon defenders.

The Sooners took an impressive 48-30 lead into the halftime locker room and the big lead was aided by 17 points from Hield. Senior forward Elgin Cook put up 16 points for Oregon, keeping them in the game, slightly.

The second half was much of the same as the Sooner dominated on the way to a 12-point victory and a berth in the Final Four since 2002.

Three Stars

Buddy Hield got hot early and stayed that way for the entirety, scoring 37 points and grabbing four rebounds.

Elgin Cook was the only reason Oregon wasn’t down by about 30 at halftime and he finished the game with 24 points.

Isaiah Cousins was a nice complementary piece to Hield, scoring 11 points and dishing seven assists.
