The Denver Broncos could be a future home for Arian Foster.
When the Houston Texans lost Arian Foster before the start of last season, we all knew it was the end of his time in the AFC South. But he might not be straying far from home for his next gig, as the Denver Broncos look to be a potential fit for the veteran running back.
One key link between Foster and the Broncos — besides the need for running back depth — is head coach Gary Kubiak. Foster and Kubiak were together in Houston before the latter was fired in 2013 and a reunion might be in store.
According to ESPN.com, Kubiak didn’t rule out Foster as an option for the Broncos but he wasn’t concrete.
"“I know how he’ll work to get back, I know how driven he is to come back and play. We’re going to look at everybody who’s out there, there’s no doubt about that … It’s my understanding he’s not quite ready yet, he’s still got some time yet, so we’ll see,” Kubiak said. “We’ll look at everybody.”"
Of course, things are a little complicated by the fact that Denver matched a pretty hefty offer sheet for C.J. Anderson, meaning he’s the running back of the future. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have a solid backfield running mate, as dual threat backfields are the norm in the NFL.
Foster isn’t going to be a franchise back no matter where he goes. Shaking up in Denver where he won’t be overworked and might be able to rebuild himself a little seems ideal.
