When is the 2016 MLB All-Star Game?
By Nick Ziegler
The 2016 MLB Season is almost here, and that means we are getting close to the return of the controversial MLB All-Star Game, which will be in San Diego, California this year.
This will be the first time since 1992 that San Diego has hosted the MLB All-Star Game, but on July 12th, it will be the first time that it is in the beautiful Petco Park. Since the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals faced off in the 2015 World Series, their respective managers will both be the coaches for the American and National Leagues.
Ned Yost will be the manager for the second straight season as the Royals have been in the World Series the last two seasons. Last season, Yost knew that his team had a chance to return to the World Series in 2015, and he assembled a team that gave him the best chance of winning. Yost and the American League were able to win the game and it eventually secured home-field advantage for the Royals last season.
Collins will likely be coaching to win as well in 2016, as the Mets are in a very similar position to the Royals of a year ago with a real chance to make another trip to the World Series. The fact that the All-Star Game decides home-field in the World Series is still ludicrous to people, but it does add a bit more intrigue to the fans of teams that are playoff contenders.
Baseball is officially back, and it will be great to see Petco Park and the city of San Diego as the hosts to the All-Star Game this season.
