A look at the opening betting odds for the 2016 Final Four

The 2016 Final Four is now set after the 64 other teams in March Madness have been sent packing over the past two weeks at the start of the tournament. It will be the Villanova Wildcats, Oklahoma Sooners, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Syracuse Orange comprising the Final Four in Houston.

It’ll be an ACC matchup on the right side of the 2016 March Madness bracket as North Carolina and Syracuse do battle. These two teams share an obvious history as current ACC foes and as two of college hoops’ most storied programs, but it’ll be interesting to see these two teams as they’re rolling right now face off.

On the other side of the bracket in the Final Four, the unquestioned best player in March Madness in Buddy Hield for Oklahoma will match up against probably the hottest team throughout the entire tournament in Villanova.

Given all of this, the question on everyone’s mind going into the Final Four is which teams are favored and just how heavily favored are those teams with the advantage. A look at the opening betting odds and point spreads for these games indicates that Villanova and North Carolina are the favorites, though the Tar Heels by a much wider margin:

Though Villanova has been hot throughout the tournament, the way the public is going to jump at the opportunity to be on Hield and the Sooners as underdogs is almost surely going to cause that line to move.

Again, the odds for Oklahoma are intriguing considering they have the best player remaining in the entire tournament.
