NBA Picks and Pivots – FanDuel Picks for March 27

Welcome to the Sunday edition of Picks & Pivots, a daily fantasy column focused on providing analysis for the upcoming NBA FanDuel slate. The purpose of this column is to first identify key building blocks that can be used for any roster construction and then identify pivot points to help differentiate your lineup in hopes of a big pay day!

The main slate on FanDuel kicks off at 6pm EST with four games that present a variety of very intriguing matchups with a few teams clinging to their playoff lives.

Point Guard

  • John Wall ($9,800)– Over his last ten games Wall is averaging 45 points per game and today going up against the Lakers, Wall gets a chance to go up against a team allowing the most fantasy points to opposing point guards. What I love about this matchup is that the Wizards are clinging to their playoff lives and Wall will have to deliver a big night to keep his team alive. With Steph Curry going up against the Sixers in a game that has a 3 touchdown spread, Curry may be on the bench by the first TV timeout. Wall gives us the ability to lock in a very safe floor and the ability to be the highest scoring PG on the evening.
  • Jose Juan Barea ($4,000) – With the news that Deron Williams will be out today, expect Barea to be massively owned again this evening as his starting role and great matchup against the Kings presents one of the best bargain options on the slate. Barea put up 31 points in his last start and with his expected high ownership a potential pivot in the same game is Raymond Felton. Priced just $100 more than Barea, Felton was also locked into the starting lineup last game out and delivered the same 31 fantasy points. I expect the masses to be all over Barea as the chalk value option today so pivoting to Felton may be a great way to differentiate your lineup.

Shooting Guard

Typically on a small slate like this, with the Rockets in action I would lock in James Harden and move on but tonight there are  a variety of great mid tier options that allow us to spend up elsewhere.

  • Wes Matthews – ($4,400) – If you have been reading me this week you know I have been all over Wes since Chandler Parsons went down. In the two games since the injury, Wes is averaging 35 fantasy points which is almost 8x value.

Matt Rogers has a great write up on Matthews today in his new FanDuel Economics and I agree that locking in Matthews tonight at this reduced price point is a no brainer. Great read Matt!

FanDuel Economics March 27

  • Jordan Clarkson ($5,500) – With D’Angelo Russell unlikely to play today, Clarkson will likely shift over to PG and have the offense run through him. With the expected increased in usage, Clarkson makes for a great under the radar play today.
  • Bradley Beal ($5,500) – Beal finds himself at the same price point as Clarkson so this is an ideal pivot situation when creating multiple lineups. Beal has 3 30+ point outings in his last 5 and the matchup against the Lakers is tremendous. I have no issue stacking Beal and Wall together today as the Wizards fight to stay alive for the postseason.

Small Forward

  • Paul George ($8,700) – Small Forward is UGLY tonight, so I will look to pay up and lock in PG. I love to target elite players when their price drops and at just $8,700, George gives us the ability to lock in a very safe floor and the upside that very few possess. George returned to the court yesterday and played 35 minutes and no team has given up more points to opposing SF than the Rockets over the last 3 weeks. Lock in PG and move on!

Power Forward

  • Myles Turner ($5,700) – Sticking with the Pacers, the Rockets have also been one of the best matchups to opposing PF over the last 3 weeks and we saw two games ago Turner drop 47.7 points. Turner has GPP winning upside and after a down game yesterday against the Nets, we may be able to target him at a lower than expected ownership.

Center

  • Demarcus Cousins ($10,900) – With so many places to save today and the Warriors elite players in a big blowout situation, Cousins is the premier play for me tonight. Boogie has averaged 30 points and 13 boards against the Mavericks on the season and with few other great options at Center, I will lock in the best available player with the savings I get at SG!
