Despite being a 10-seed, Syracuse finds themselves in the Final Four after upsetting Virginia.
When Selection Sunday came around and Syracuse made the field, everyone went crazy. The consensus was that they didnโt belong and only made it because they were missing Jim Boeheim for nine games. Well, as it turns out, Syracuse doesnโt care what you think because they just became the first 10-seed to reachย the Final Four.
As expected, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter, both positive and negative, to what has been the pantomime villain of March Madness:
And they said we didn't belong.

Syracuse in the Final Four. Houston, you have a problem.

The worst part of Syracuse winning is another week of every sportswriter ever reminding us they went to Syracuse.

I went to Syracuse. Had little respect for Boeheim/program when on campus (sanctions, etc). Have even less now. Don't get a penny from me

If you have a Syracuse grad in your newsroom...this week is going to be insufferable. If you don't, you probably don't have a newsroom.

You couldn't invent a less exciting Cinderella story than Syracuse. It's like a down on his luck oil tycoon stumbling upon a gold mine.

This is the biggest weekend in SYRACUSE basketball history, right? Two Final Four berths in one weekend is un-toppable.

Syracuse literally does not deserve to be in the tournament. They only reason they're in is because they cheated. LITERALLY.

After doing so well, the Elite 8 is where number one seeds go to die, as Kansas, Virginia, and Oregon all lost. Oregon and Kansas lost to quality two-seeds that have a legitimate caseย for being in the Final Four, but hardly anyone couldโve predicted Syracuse would make it this far.
Sure, theย Orange avoided Michigan State and Utah, but they were down by 16 against Virginia before pulling off a miraculous 27-8 run. Their zone defense smothered the Virginia forwards and once London Perrantes cooled down, they didnโt have an answer. They might have had a 19-13 regular season record, but Jim Boeheim is a wizard and whoever faces him in Houston will have a tough out.
