Syracuse reaches Final Four: Twitter reacts

Despite being a 10-seed, Syracuse finds themselves in the Final Four after upsetting Virginia.

When Selection Sunday came around and Syracuse made the field, everyone went crazy. The consensus was that they didn’t belong and only made it because they were missing Jim Boeheim for nine games. Well, as it turns out, Syracuse doesn’t care what you think because they just became the first 10-seed to reach the Final Four.

As expected, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter, both positive and negative, to what has been the pantomime villain of March Madness:

After doing so well, the Elite 8 is where number one seeds go to die, as Kansas, Virginia, and Oregon all lost. Oregon and Kansas lost to quality two-seeds that have a legitimate case for being in the Final Four, but hardly anyone could’ve predicted Syracuse would make it this far.

Sure, the Orange avoided Michigan State and Utah, but they were down by 16 against Virginia before pulling off a miraculous 27-8 run. Their zone defense smothered the Virginia forwards and once London Perrantes cooled down, they didn’t have an answer. They might have had a 19-13 regular season record, but Jim Boeheim is a wizard and whoever faces him in Houston will have a tough out.
