With only nine games left of the 2015-16 NBA regular season, 73 wins looksĀ highlyĀ likely for the Golden State Warriors.
The chance to win 73 games is helping to keep the Golden State Warriors focussed to finish the season at full pace. Theyāve been sole commanders of the 1st seed in the Western Conference and the title of theĀ NBAās best team all season, somehow improving even further from the highest levels of basketball achievement.Ā Reigning MVP Stephen Curry has sky-rocketed to new, unprecedented levels, while the team itself has clearly bested itself in every way ā as if 67 wins and a ring last season just werenāt good enough.
After a 117-105 win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, the Warriors (66-7) have only nine games left to make even more history. And while their two games against the San Antonio Spurs (one at home and one on the road) will obviously pose a great challenge, games against teams like theĀ Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves and depleted Memphis Grizzlies highlight their remaining schedule with farĀ easier matchups.
History from this season is on their side, too. The Warriors have never gone worse than 7-2 in any nine-game stretch through 2015-16 which is all they have to do to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bullsā 72-10 record.Ā Plus,Ā with six of their last nine games at home, the Warriors have a great chance of staying perfect at Oracle Arena, needing only one winĀ on the road to reach 73.
That previously unreachable mark looks more reachable than ever right now, and gives NBA fans a gripping narrative for the end of the season. However, thereās plenty more action from the league to look at as well, so if youāre new to the NBA Rewind, here are the featuresĀ that will break it down:
