No. 3 – Boston Red Sox

Last season, the men from Beantown were looking up at the rest of the AL East. They finished in last place as the Toronto Blue Jays and rival New York Yankees went to the playoffs. In 2016, Boston may be looking down not just on their divisional foes, but the rest of the league.

It will be an emotional year for Red Sox fans with David Ortiz retiring at the end of the season. It always seems to bring something extra out of athletes when a teammate is hanging up his cleats at the end of a season. With players like Pedroia, Ramirez and Sandoval playing for Big Papi, the desire to  send him out the right way could be the thing that throws Boston over the top.

On the mound, the Red Sox spent big money to get David Price to sign. As the clear number one starter (like that was going to be in doubt) and one of the best pitchers in baseball, Price will give Boston an if they have to face an offense like Kansas City’s in the post season. After waiting 86 years for its sixth title, don’t be surprised if Boston wins a fourth in the last 13 seasons.
