The 2016 Major League Baseball season just over a week away. And when Opening Day finally come around, it will time for the premier talents in the game to put the hopes of their teams on their respective backs in an effort see their seasons extend into October and beyond.

While baseball is the ultimate team sport, it still means a great deal to have an elite talent on one’s roster. A player capable of changing the game with one swing of the bat, flash of the glove or trip to the pitcher’s mound.

What does the task ahead hold for each of these franchise cornerstones? And will their best efforts carry their teams along with them towards greatness in 2016? Here is a look at the top guy for each club in baseball, as well as what their responsibilities will be in the upcoming season and beyond.
