Philadelphia Phillies—Maikel Franco

‘Franco-Mania’ has been taking Spring Training by storm (brother), and for anybody that saw this statuesque fastball thumper work last summer, it should come as no surprise. So far for the Phillies this spring, Franco has hit seven round trippers, which accounts for exactly 50% of his total hits on the spring. And while that would be an impressive pace to keep up over a full season, his returns from last summer say that it is not a far-fetched expectation to think that the 23-year-old slugger could annually post some prodigious power numbers for the Fightin’ Phils.

In 80 games last summer, Franco hit 14 home runs, 22 doubles and posted a .495 slugging percentage, in addition to a .897 on-base + slugging number. After notching a pair of 100 RBI campaigns at Double and Triple A, he certainly has the pedigree to be the type of bat that the rebuilding Phillies can build around and will be able to keep aboard throughout the entirety of their roster reconstruction.

A .275/.340/.495 type slash line, accompanied by 30 home runs, 90 RBI and 80 runs scored could reasonably be expected as he gets what could be a regular All-Star level run off the ground the summer.
