Baltimore Orioles—Manny Machado

Manny Machado is a once in a generation type of talent. A shortstop with another power to masquerade as a third baseman and subsequently raise the level of play at his ‘secondary’ position as well.

2015 was yet another year and another new trick for the precociously talented –yet still miscast— Orioles third baseman. Yet between being the most athletic third baseman in the game and a multiple time All-Star by the age of 22, Machado is still steadily expanding his offensive abilities as well. He began developing into a legit power hitter by converting doubles to home runs last season, dropping his doubles to 30 (down from 51 two years ago) to home runs, of which his 2015 total were two more than his career total to date (33 from 2012-2014, 35 from April to October of 2015). Toss in the 20 stolen bases that came as well, and there could be a 30-30 season in the works from Manny soon as well. Never count out anything from this prodigy come true.

But what his calling card truly is his ability to essentially inhabit the left side of the infield by himself, from the second base bag, all the way beyond the third base foul line. Machado is a one of a kind talent that is still figuring out exactly how many tricks he can pull out of his bag.
