Toronto Raptors rookie guard Norman Powell weaved his way through the Atlanta Hawks defense and threw down a major slam.

The second round of the NBA Draft is usually for international picks or taking a flyer on a guy for the Summer League and preseason. However, there are some occasions where a second-round pick pans out and begins to contribute for his team a little bit.

With the Toronto Raptors gearing up for the playoffs, they’ve begun to get some guys some rest and also give some time to some players that might not normally play as much. One of those players seeing some time is rookie guard Norman Powell, who was drafted in the second round.

On Wednesday night, Powell showed off why he was worthy of a spot on the Raptors. As Powell caught a full head of steam down the court, he weaved his way through the Atlanta Hawks’ defense and juked guard Dennis Schroder right out of his shoes.

To top it off, he threw down a powerful slam to endear himself to everyone.

The Raptors see a lot of promise in Powell and plays like this show off the explosive ability that he has. He’s beginning to get valuable experience on the court and if he can get some in the playoffs, it will help his development even further.
