Baltimore Orioles: Birds should bring the bats
The Baltimore Orioles have the type of instantaneous firepower that can change the course of any game in a hurry. With defending MLB home run champion Chris Davis resigned and back in the fold, with Adam Jones and Manny Machado surrounding him in on a daily basis, the O’s have a gauntlet for opposing pitchers to work their way through.
Yet that is not the whole picture of what they boast either, as the opportunistic Orioles were among the biggest spenders of the offseason. New O’s Mark Trumbo and Pedro Alvarez provide manager Buck Showalter with even more regular thump he can deploy, as both of his newest weapons have 30 home run campaigns in their recent history. Toss in the fact that Matt Wieters is back as well, and Baltimore possesses a very dangerous everyday offering and one of the best fits for the confines of their home ballpark in the game today.
While there are some reasonable questions about if their pitching staff can endure against similarly stacked offensive clubs (of which there is no shortage in the AL East), the O’s have the type of manager and variety of offensive talents to make a run for it this year.
