NXT Takeover: Dallas results: Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn video highlights

Full highlights and results from Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn at NXT TakeOver: Dallas

There’s not been many debuts in NXT or WWE in recent memory that have been as highly anticipated as that of Shinsuke Nakamura, arguably the best professional wrestler on the planet. At NXT TakeOver: Dallas on Friday, he indeed made his debut though, going up against one of the most talented men in the company in Sami Zayn.

For starters, Shinsuke Nakamura is here in NXT:

The two men started the match playing a bit of mind games, feeling one another out. However, it was Zayn who picked up the early advantage in the match with some of his patented wide hip tosses. After sending Nakamura into the corner, Zayn decided to do a bit of taunting to the newcomer:

Someone with the talent of the King of Strong Style, even in a new environment like NXT, wouldn’t be held down for long, though, and started landing some kicks and knee strikes.

The action evened out for a bit, but when the fight went to the outside after Nakamura was knocked from the top turnbuckle, it was actually Shinsuke who got the upper hand soon enough, landing huge knee strikes with Zayn on the apron:

The always resilient Sami Zayn didn’t let that take him down for too long, though, as he again was able to fight back and send the newcomer to the outside and then hit his beautiful dive over the top rope:

Back in the ring, Zayn then really looked to have things in his favor as he landed a monster Michinoku Driver:

The NXT veteran then really looked to get things in, but the debuting Japanese star then showed off what he does best as he began exchanging forearms with Zayn in an absolutely incredible spot that lasted several minutes and left Shinsuke bloodied.

As you’d expect from the King of Strong Style, though, he came out on top of that sequence—but not for long as Zayn then started coming back. That’s when Nakamura surprised his opponent with a gorgeous transition into the armbar:

Zayn used a bit of leverage to try and pin and then ultimately get out of the submission and he then caught Nakamura in a submission of his own not long after, locking in the Koji Clutch:

The two men then both looked to end it as Shinsuke hit a huge kick that sent Sami into the corner and allowed him to hit a big maneuver to try and set up his Bomaye Knee as Zayn also got an attempt at the Helluva Kick. Both missed, but Zayn did manage to hit his Blue Thunder Bomb:

That wasn’t good enough for three, though, and Nakamura soon stumbled to the outside. When Zayn followed and tried to go for his through-the-ropes Tornado DDT, though, NXT’s newest star was ready and stopped it:

Back in the ring, Zayn again tried to fight back, but Nakamura got him set up on his knees once again and then, this time, landed the Bomaye knee to get the win:

What a freaking match.
