Sprint Cup: STP 500 2016 qualifying results

Here are the complete qualifying results for the 2016 STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday.

After a week off from racing, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is back at it again at Martinsville Speedway this Sunday, where one driver will have a chance to earn themselves a spot in the Chase at the 2016 STP 500. On Friday, the drivers of NASCAR navigated the tiny half-mile track in qualifying and it was a challenge for the drivers, as they tried to get what little speed they could.

In the first round of qualifying on Friday, it was Joey Logano that set the pace. After having his win stolen from him last time he raced at the track, Logano set out to make sure that he established the pace early in qualifying. He set the bar in round one, which led into round two.

In round two, it was Logano again, as he set the pace and no one could touch his speeds. The cars of Hendrick Motorsports had their issues, except Kasey Kahne, who was the fourth fastest in the round.

In the end, it was Logano who won the pole for Martinsville and he will be out front when the race begins on Sunday. He should be a strong contender to win his first race of the season and enter the Chase.
