Denzel Valentine offers support to Buddy Hield after Oklahoma Final Four loss

Michigan State star Denzel Valentine gave words of support to Buddy Hield after Oklahoma lost in the Final Four

Every time that the Oklahoma Sooners took the floor this season and in March Madness, all eyes were on their star senior guard Buddy Hield. He stole the imaginations and hearts of everyone watching him. However, when Buddy and the Sooners came up against the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four this Saturday, things didn’t go quite as smoothly for Hield and Oklahoma.

After putting up a fight early, the Sooners were absolutely trounced by Villanova until the final buzzer. Hield in particular struggled as he shot poorly from the field and from deep. After hitting his first three of the game, he then missed his next seven.

Coming off of such a a disappointing performance, the haters and detractors from Hield were sure to come. However, one of his rivals and peers in Michigan State star Denzel Valentine took to Twitter almost immediately to defend Buddy and essentially say that anyone who planned on saying negative things about Hield was a fool.

While this is obviously a case of one college basketball player standing up for another as part of a brotherhood, it’s particularly cool to see two players of this caliber have that kind of respect for one another.

Moreover, Valentine is 100 percent right. Buddy Hield had a bad game against Villanova and no one’s going to deny that. However, he’s a star because of everything he did this year and over his career with the Sooners—so it shouldn’t all tumble because of one bad night out.
