March Madness bracket 2016: Villanova advances to National Championship

A look at the updated 2016 March Madness bracket after Villanova beat Oklahoma to advance to the National Championship

The Villanova Wildcats had been one of the hottest teams in 2016 March Madness in their march to the Final Four, including knocking off the No. 1-overall seed in the tournament in the Elite Eight in the Kansas Jayhawks. However, they were up against a juggernaut in the Oklahoma Sooners and Buddy Hield on Saturday in Houston and it really felt like anyone’s game.

And for the first eight minutes of the first half, that’s the way it looked like things were going to play out in the Final Four in Houston on Saturday night. Villanova and Oklahoma simply traded buckets back and forth, both teams knocking down shots with unreal efficiency. However, Villanova then turned on the jets and seemed to only get better while Oklahoma faded.

Villanova couldn’t be stopped even slightly from about halfway through the first half and on. Every shot that they put up seemed to fall and every play that they wanted to make they were able to execute. It was a master class effort from the Wildcats as they routed the Sooners to move on to the National Championship.

Now that Villanova has advanced to the title game, let’s look at the updated 2016 March Madness bracket to see how we got here with only two games in the tournament left to be played.
