Chicago Bears mock draft: Complete 7-round edition
The first and second rounds seem to be far too early for the Bears to be drafting a receiver, especially since they chose Kevin White on day one in 2015. With Jeffery still hashing out a contract extension and White coming off an injury, though, the Bears might turn to round three for a solid choice.
Sterling Shepard proved to be one of the top wide outs in the Big 12 this season and that could translate well to the NFL. He doesn’t have great size, standing just 5-foot-10 and 191 pounds, but he is speedy, running a 4.48 40-yard dash, and athletic.
The senior receiver from Oklahoma improved each season while in Norman. That’s something that intrigues scouts. If he can improve each year in college, he can do so while under the tutelage of the world’s best football coaches.
Shepard’s freshman year consisted of 45 catches for 621 yards and three touchdowns and by his senior year, he doubled his production, catching 86 passes for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also named first team All-Big 12 as a senior for his impressive stat line.
With two quick receivers like Kevin White and Sterling Shepard to complement Alshon Jeffery, Jay Cutler would have no problem improving his numbers from 2015.
