Let’s be honest here. Travis Feeney might not be available by the time the Bears pick at No. 150 overall in the fifth round. However, he’s projected as a fourth or fifth-rounder, and could slip a bit despite his impressive NFL combine showing over a month ago.

Washington’s senior outside linebacker was quite the pro prospect during his career and proved his immense athleticism at the combine by posting a 4.50 40-yard dash. For a linebacker, that’s incredible. Heck, most running backs and receivers don’t have speed like that heading into the NFL.

The Bears need to add a pass rusher at the linebacker position and why not a guy like Feeney who can just blaze by blockers on the way to the quarterback. Imagine a running back trying to out-run Feeney in the open field sideline-to-sideline — it’s just not going to happen often.

Although his tackle numbers declined over his career, Feeney became a better all-around player at Washington. As a senior in 2015, he posted 56 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss 8.0 sacks and two pass deflections. This kid has been opening eyes and would be a great pick-up in the fifth round.
