Here’s all the information you need to watch the MLB Opening Day matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the more underrated rivalries in baseball. On Opening Day, the two teams will square off as Pittsburgh looks to improve on their wild card game berth from last season and St. Louis looks to defend their National League Central Division title against some tough competition.
Francisco Liriano will get the start on the mound for Pittsburgh. The 32-year-old left hander went 12-7 last season and finished with an ERA of 3.38. In 31 games, he pitched 186.2 innings, striking out 205 batters while walking 70. He went 1-1 against St. Louis last season with a 3.71 ERA.
Adam Wainwright will get the start for the Cardinals. He will be pitching in his fourth consecutive Opening Day for St. Louis. This will be the first time he has started an MLB game since last April when he suffered an Achilles injury that derailed most of his season. Wainwright owns a 121-67 record over his career with a career ERA of 2.98.
