STP 500 2016: Starting grid, lineup

Here is the complete starting grid and lineup for the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday.

If there was ever a week for a redemption story, then that story unfolds at the 2016 STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. Last year, Joey Logano was in line to advance and have a chance at winning a Sprint Cup Championship during the November race at Martinsville.

Instead, he was taken out by Matt Kenseth and saw his championship dreams end because of one man’s personal vendetta against him. It was one of the most disgusting showcases in NASCAR history and it certainly created quite the stir on the track.

This week, Logano will be on the pole when the STP 500 begins and he did so with the greatest of ease during qualifying. There wasn’t a car on the track that could touch Logano during Friday’s qualifying session and that’s always been the way it has been when Logano qualifies at Martinsville.

If history is any indication, Logano should be in contention for this win. If he can pull out the win at the STP 500, then he will lock up a spot in the Chase and can start focusing on winning the Sprint Cup Championship that was stolen from at Martinsville.
