Kevin Pillar made one of his patented diving catches despite colliding with the wall.

Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Kevin Pillar has become well known for his ridiculous catches. He tends to get a ton of air and seems to be capable of catching anything that is in play. Pillar has a reckless mentality, being willing to do whatever it takes to make a catch.

That includes colliding with the wall.

Pillar luckily didn’t hit the wall that hard and he is very lucky that he didn’t hit the wall head first. He was down for several seconds after the play but he got up on his own and even stayed in the game. Pillar is regarded as one of the best defensive outfielders in the majors. This play is why.

While he has only played two games so far this season, Pillar had two hits in five at bats on Opening Day against the Rays. Pillar is more known for his glove, but he had a respectable .713 OPS last season, hitting 12 home runs with 56 RBIs in 159 games in 2015. The Blue Jays center fielder is considered one of the favorites to win a Gold Glove this season, though he will have stiff competition. Plays like this certainly help his case.
