Get ready to meet the Earth-2 version of Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance as she is set to appear in the penultimate episode of The Flash Season 2.

Katie Cassidy, who plays Laurel Lance/Black Canary on Arrow, will be stopping by The Flash for the penultimate episode of Season 2. Only Cassidy will not be playing Laurel or Black Canary when she meets up with Barry and his team.

Thanks to the joys of the multiverse, she will be playing Black Siren on Earth-2. Black Siren is a member of the Justice Guild of America, a superhero team that the Justice League meets when they travel to a parallel Earth in an episode of the Justice League animated series that ran from 2001-2006. The Justice Guild of America is modeled after the Justice Society of America from the Golden Age of comics.

Black Siren is the only female member of the Justice Guild, and is named Donna Nance, similar to the Golden Age name of Black Canary, Dinah Lance — which is also the name of Laurel’s mother on Arrow. Black Siren is similar to Black Canary in terms of hand-to-hand combat skills but lacks the signature “Canary Cry”, again like the Golden Age version of Black Canary.

When not out fighting crime with the Justice Guild, Black Siren is usually at Guild headquarters baking cookies for the male members of the team. This is a far cry from Laurel’s role outside of team Arrow as a Star City DA and will probably not be an aspect of the character that The Flash will use.

“You will see her on an episode of The Flash playing the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance,” Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim revealed at a press screening on Monday via EW.

The episode of The Flash that Cassidy will appear on airs May 17 and has already filmed in Vancouver. Pictures and from the set of her in the Black Siren costume have already appeared, including pictures of her with the Flash.

Cassidy will also crossover with Vixen, as she will lend her voice to the second season of that animated series. Here she will be the Earth-1 version of Laurel Lance again. Vixen made a live-action appearance on Arrow in an earlier episode of Season 4, and  it sounded like the two characters already knew each other, so season 2 of Vixen may explain that connection.

Both The Flash and Arrow will have the next couple of weeks off until April 19 and 20, when they return with a final run of episodes before their finales. The Flash returns with an episode called “Enter Zoom” and has a synopsis that sounds like there will be some solid answers about Zoom.

"“Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zolomon’s (Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed.”"

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET, while Cassidy and Arrow can be seen on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on The CW.
