Little kid hugging Carmelo Anthony gets two fired
A little kid that ran on the court at the New Orleans Pelicans game to hug Carmelo Anthony, ended up getting two fired.
There was an adorable moment recently when the New York Knicks traveled to play the New Orleans Pelicans. During the game, a little kid ran out of the stands and onto the court to hug Carmelo Anthony. While anyone else would have been arrested, possibly slammed to the court if not worse, it was an adorable moment for a young man that got to meet his favorite superstar.
However, the adorable moment that everyone got to enjoy has come at a price. According to John Reid of NOLA.com, an usher and a security guard lost their job over the incident that occurred. Superdome and Smoothie King Center general manager, Alan Freeman wasn’t happy about the two not doing their job.
"”Then, there is a police officer stationed in that general area also, and he was not doing his job,” Freeman said. ”So essentially what happened there is that you get two people who were not doing their responsibilities and that led to a black eye for us as the building operator."
While it’s a lot of commotion and an extreme measure to take over a little kid running on the court, the consequences make sense. Had it been anyone else on the court, it would have been a serious matter, especially not knowing the intentions of the person to run on the court.
The ushers and security guards at the games are there to ensure the safety of the fans, but also to do their job and ensure the safety of the players and make sure that no one is harmed on the court.
It might have just been an innocent hug from a kid to a player, but it wouldn’t have happened if the person was there to ensure that the game goes on as it was supposed to. A kid to got to make a memory that he will remember forever, but in the end it costs two people their job.
