Villanova found a way to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels thanks to a last minute three, and the UNC feed of the shot is all kinds of sad.
Announcers make or break a game. As part of the Final Four and the National Championship game, there’s the main feed and homer “team streams” for each participant. While the Villanova stream was all happy when the final shot fell, the North Carolina Tar Heels team stream was all kinds of sad as the ball went through the hoops after the buzzer sounded.
The announcers didn’t know what to say. They called the final pass into the court like they would anything else, but the final shot for Nova was surely a dagger in the stomach for those calling the UNC feed. It’s not surprising given that the announcers on the team stream feeds have a connection to the school they are calling for. Once that shot went in the announcers went quiet fast and let the scene do the talking for them.
Villanova will be all smiles for days to come, while Roy Williams’ team have a lot to be proud of as they contemplate what went wrong on Monday night. It was a thrilling game from start to finish, but the UNC homer feed at the end of the game accurately described how Tar Heels nation is feeling. They are definitely sad after seeing Villanova get the win after UNC tied the game seconds before.
